       ASK ROD

Saying hello to the new year after bidding the old one goodbye is one of our most sentimental institutions.. I hope each of you has had a productive 1998 and that tomorrow will be the start of an even better, happy, healthy, twelve month span. Here’s a nice letter to end the year but not necessarily the season.

'TIS THE SEASON

No questions, Rod, Just to wish you the blessings and peace of this holy season, now and in your life to come. ACS

Dear ACS, the same back at you. And, to you and all our friends, let's try and keep the good feelings and smiles this sweet season brings to each of us, all year long. Rod

FRIENDS OF STANYAN

So many old friends left us in 1998. Here are some of "The Friends of Stanyan " we cared about that were lost to us in the past 12 months or so. We salute and remember them for their talent and friendship; most of all their genorosity with both.

Rod's random thoughts Looking backward helps us to go forward with a sense of purpose.

Only look back to gain perspective.

Four to six, top of the third.

And now a toast:

I wish you heady harvests every day of every year, no unsure hours or sleepless nights, and happiness enough to make the valleys of New England and the verdant hills of France forever green inside your heart.

PASSING THROUGH

We pass the signs
the seasons
and the signposts now
at such a speed
that pausing to reflect
on what direction means
grows harder year by year
and yet your God and mine
daily holds His breath
expecting us to listen
and to care about each other.

Across the fields
beyond the highways
and each ocean,
I reach out to you
hoping I’ll be welcomed
by another outstretched hand.

For each day
in the year just starting
and all those days in the years ahead
I wish you love and reason in your life
and most of all
the feeling and reality
of our friendship.
