A Thought for Today

Truth sometimes hurts, but seldom does it kill.

FROM the¨BOOKS

Nocturne

At twilight
spires pierce the middle air
as if to feel their way
through clouds and into
God’s green garden
and protected grass.

Later when the midnight comes
they venture further
perhaps into His living space.
I wonder how He greets
these round, well meaning domes
with pleasure or indifference.

Depending on His boredom
or the bacchanal
of cheribim and seraphim
              in progress.

I expect He welcomes
all the brave intruders
especially if their curiosity
is gently mixed with love.

Midnight’s’
not as desperate
as we’re told
we should believe it is.
Loving and the act of love
is only one more affirmation
that God in heaven
walks and runs
        and somersaults
living on to see
all things His hands created
die, arise and live again.

Rod's random thoughts Hate diminishes our capacity for love.

It doesn't have to be a happy life, but it ought to be a full one.

It's not the camera lying, only the friend who sees the picture.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON

A cat
came off the higher roof
and down below my window
balancing on so thin a rail
that even pigeons had not dared
that tightrope walk before.

A red and yellow cat
               of some age
and some experience
sat the afternoon out
down below my window waiting
as he must have known
                  I waited.

A cat for company
until the sunset started
then he leisurely climbed back.

Some sea birds stopped by
               when the sun had dropped.
Night music of a kind unheard before.
electric on a summer's eve
                      and quiet as the wave.
