A Thought for Today

Strides are made by differences, not sameness.

This One Does It For Me!

Greetings,

An acquaintance of mine on an internet forum I frequent, kevinswatch.com, posted that she has the song A Place of My Own from the 1968 television movie Heidi running through her head in the stuck-in-yer-head song lyric thread, but that she didn't know all of the lyrics and was unable to find them after doing a Google search.

Could you guide me to where they could be found, so I could then relay the information on to her?

With sincere appreciation for any response.

Pam Wagner
(Gainesville, FL)

You and your friend are way ahead of me on this one, Pam. I'd never heard of this movie, certainly never seen it and I wasn't aware Rod had written the score or this song.

Fortunately Jay Hagan had and I found the lyrics carefully documented in his database. Sadly there's no other information on either the song or the movie so the lyrics will have to suffice.

Thanks for an interesting question.

A Place of My Own

Some day I’ll find me a place of my own
a place where I’ll never be lonely.

All of my life I’ve been looking
for some little place of my own.

Some day I’ll find me a place of my own
a place that belongs to me only.

Today or tomorrow’s tomorrow
I’ll have me a place of my own.

The fence, the tree, the window
the door of polished wood.

The place at my own table
and pots of porridge and all things good.

Some day I’ll find me a place of my own
someplace that always has known me.

All of my life I’ve been living
to live in a place of my own.
