JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS |
|
On this day in 1917 Mata Hari was
shot by a firing squad proving once and for all that spying is not a romantic profession.
In 1928 the Graf Zeppelin arrived in the U. S. from Germany. For many of us October 15th
1964 was the day the music died - as Cole Porter passes on.
Hope your day, today, is cheerier than those Ive mentioned. I plan to get up early
and lay out a long, lazy weekend . . .filled with sunshine, martinis and
thingamabobs, but not necessarily in that order.

Ambition is the
talent that takes us to the top the fastest.

All things in moderation? That is perhaps the other side of
extreme.

Only fools tell complete lies.

Inventions are the things we create from Gods
inventions. |

FREEDOM |
|
Free I am.
I have no bills to pay.
My debts are squared,
the edges smoothed out
perfectly.
My ducks are in a row
and I can sail.
But there are borders
in this final life
that were not here
at nineteen
or at twenty-three.
Ill not admit
that I erected them
or even that I helped.
What if I did
not even knowing
what I built
with my erector set ?
I am not accountable.
My new found freedom
only came just now
and Im experimenting
with it still.
Happily theres no one left
to disappoint
if I should stumble
in the dark
or die while diving
through a dream
that didnt end.
To those whod jail me
let them try.
My boundaries
and responsibilities,
if they were ever there,
now blur into a single
tie-dyed day.
