ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY |
|
Today is the 286th day of the year
& heres a scary thought, there are only 53 shopping days till Christmas. On this
day in 1933 Mae West was recognized by the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
for being "a boon to motherhood." Speaking of motherhood, on January 15th, 1936
all the lights went out in New York City . . . so just about now, that year, a minor
population explosion began in The Big Apple.
Finally, Happy Birthday Anita and thanks for making so many people happy with all of your
beautiful music. Most of all, thanks for being my friend and colleague for the past 30
years.

Death is nothing more
than the other end of life. We pay it too much attention.

Bend the rule too often and you might have to scrap the plan.

Life is a search for friendship.

Why imitate? Trust your own ideas. |

EXCELSIOR |
|
I celebrate your eyes
because they looked at me
without restraint or shame.
I celebrate your breasts
in the darkest night
I could find them blind
and feeble.
I celebrate your tears
even if they cry for something
that Ive done.
I celebrate you
playing shuffleboard
or tennis
or playing with my balls
while I sleep.
I celebrate
all the night sounds
that you make
but wont admit to
your conversations with yourself
in sleep.
Most of all
I celebrate the God
that gave me you
and asked for nothing
in return.
