A Thought for Today

Compassion is the best friend anybody ever had. It’s good for those who receive it and better for those willing to pass it along.

This One Does It For Me!

Ken,

I'm a long time fan and am thrilled to have found this site. I'm only sorry I didn't find it years ago - it appears I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

I'm also a fan of Christmas music but I don't appear to have any of Rod's songs in my collection.

I'd be most grateful if you would let me know where I can find some.

Samantha

Welcome to A Safe Place to Land, Samantha - I hope you'll be with us for a long time to come. How about this for starters?

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Thank You for Christmas
The Carols of Christmas
The Day After Christmas
Life is Too Short Not To Believe in Santa Claus
Santa's Christmas Band

If any of the above take your fancy you'll be delighted to know you can download them right here totally free of charge. Click on the image below and you'll be taken directly to Rod's Jukebox where you'll find instructions.

In the Jukebox you'll also find at least a dozen or so other titles for your listening pleasure.

A quick visit to our online store, Stanyan House, will reveal an additional three albums of Christmas songs for sale - Sinatra: Christmas Through the Years and two compilation albums featuring a variety of artists.

Happy listening!

Rod's random thoughts How can we presume such easiness with each other and still remain so insecure?

Equality means not only equal rights but equal responsibility to one's neighbor and oneself.

Even when the candle sputters, hope hides inside the flame ready to spring forward and jump out.

THANK YOU FOR CHRISTMAS

Thank you for Christmas
the first one I remember
that was more than just another day
deep in December.

Back came the holidays
the ones I told goodbye
until you paused a moment
and looked me in the eye.

And thank you
for what I thought
I’d never find
Christmas of a kind
I’d conjured in my mind.

As for the lights of town
like Christmas down the hill
off beyond your nakedness
I can see them still.

I suppose that I knew... even then
Christmas is for little boys
and not for grown up men.

Still... for a time
in the year we’ve just passed
I wanted you to know
you gave me Christmas at last.

    AND FINALLY

More next week. Meantime if you have a favorite McKuen song, poem or story you'd like to share, or a question you need answered, drop me a line (you'll find the address on our Contact Page) and I'll do the rest.
