A Thought for Today

To write it out is to let it go.

TIME OUT

I’ll be in the studio for the next couple of days working on some new songs so the next complete Flight Plan will be over the weekend when I’ll return with a new edition of Ask Rod.

Meanwhile here are today’s birthdays, a maxim or two or three and a poem I hope you’ll like.

Rod's random thoughts Only a fool enters a room unwanted.

In love or out of love, we are suspended as in a limbo created by the presence of or lack of someone else.

The road to riches is often paved with bad intentions.

THE ADVENTURES OF CLARK KENT

Your body lying easy in the August day
is not a challenge but an invitation.
Being lazy too
I leave it to Old Sol to ravage.

                                           Night –
always more dependable than sunshine
has a way of coming 'round on time
and I have always been a patient man.

Do not think I haven't seen those
intrepid hikers of the summer beach
who in the guise of Sunshine Supermen
live out the tail end of afternoons
behind half Venetian blinds
with what they've staked out
and followed down on midmornings.

Mind the rope
that I tied about your ankle.
No Latin son/sun can steal my mistress
for more than just a single afternoon
